Sustainability at KISTERS: Additional photovoltaic system put into operation.

The responsible use of our resources is a matter of course for us and also the motivation for our services and products. Many of our software and hardware solutions enable our customers to act and make decisions more sustainably. We can only implement climate protection and the energy transition together and every contribution counts.
Operating our data centre with our own PV power
As part of our sustainability concept, another solar system with 222 modules went into operation on 31 July 2024 on the roofs of our buildings at Pascalstrasse 8+10. The installed capacity is 99.7 kWp and the expected yield is around 90,000 kWh per year. The electricity generated by the system is used entirely in the two buildings and, above all, in our data centre. We therefore do not feed into the public grid.
This is already our second PV system in Aachen: We operate a 125 kWp system at Pascalstraße 1, which supplies solar power for our 32 charging points for electric vehicles, in addition to other purposes. A 25 kWp system has been installed at our site in Oldenburg since 2018, which supplies eight charging points for electric vehicles, among other things.
Sustainability as a central goal of the company
We use an energy management system in accordance with ISO 50001 at all major locations in Germany. In addition, CHP, photovoltaic and rainwater utilisation systems as well as state-of-the-art building automation technology are installed at many company sites. We promote e-mobility through company electric cars and the gradual conversion of the entire company fleet to e-mobility, our own charging stations, e-bike sharing and our own e-bike station.
The world’s largest and most reliable provider of sustainability ratings for companies, EcoVadis, awarded us the silver medal for sustainability in December 2023.
Our climate commitment in Aachen also contributes to the City of Aachen’s Climate Neutrality by 2030 project. Together, we are working towards an energy-conscious future.
