Process-orientated software solutions for all market roles.

Press release:  Aachen, 9. December 2024.

Energy supply companies are facing a new energy world characterised by dynamism, volatility and mass data. Sections 14a and 41a of the German Energy Industry Act (EnWG) and Section 9 of the German Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) are driving developments forward. For this dynamic energy world, the Aachen-based IT company for the energy industry KISTERS will be presenting all further developments relating to its cloud solutions for all market roles at E-world 2025 at Stand 1E140 in Hall 1.

The KISTERS trade fair appearance from 11 to 13 February 2025 in Essen will focus in particular on: a modular complete solution for distribution grid operators for monitoring and controlling the grid with the low-voltage cockpit; a mass data-capable IT solution for metering point operators for metering data management and dimming via CLS control including secure, fast market communication; a customer portal for energy suppliers for dynamic tariffs that also covers follow-up processes such as effects on forecasts, risk assessment and procurement as well as billing preparation. In addition, the mathematical optimisation solution for profit maximisation, CO2 reduction, the design and use of large batteries and cloud software for automated short-term trading including schedule and nomination management are also in focus.

‘We attach particular importance to the fact that our platform not only optimally covers the processes of a single market role, but also provides efficient support across roles, departments and even companies,’ says Dr Markus Probst, Head of the KISTERS Group’s Energy division. ‘Thanks to the modular structure, each energy supply company receives exactly the solution that fits its IT landscape and processes.’

IT Security confirmed.

In October 2024, the KISTERS demonstrated the security of the KISTERScloud solutions with successful testing in accordance with SOC 2 Type 2 and BSI C5 Type 2. This confirms the effectiveness and continuity of the security measures and complements the ISO 27001 certification that has been in place since 2017. Independent evidence of this kind from the IT service provider helps energy supply companies – including KRITIS operators – to fulfil their own regulatory obligations.

Efficient collaboration across departments.

KISTERS solutions integrate all roles and departments that are involved in a value chain on a single platform – with web interfaces optimised for the respective role – in order to best serve the process flows required. This ensures efficiency, speed and consistency. Third-party solutions such as CRM and billing can also be integrated. Especially when grids become more unstable and energy volumes even more volatile due to the increasing involvement of end consumers, fast cross-role collaboration is a must in order to avoid power outages and (balancing energy) costs.

Dynamic tariffs with minimal risk.

The KISTERS customer portal not only supports suppliers in offering their customers dynamic tariffs, but also in dynamically adjusting procurement and thus avoiding costs for balancing energy. The KISTERS platform also includes billing preparation so that energy suppliers do not have to adapt their consumption billing systems for dynamic tariffs.

Automated fast metering point operation.

KISTERS supports metering point operators with a stand-alone cockpit that is quickly available in the KISTERScloud. With the cockpit, metering point operators can fulfil their increasing responsibility as a central data supplier for the other market roles and as the only interface to the customers’ smart meters, among other things. It ensures automatic control of all market processes, including CLS management, message dispatch secured by smart meter PKI and gateway administration. This allows metering point operators to handle both the familiar slow and the new fast market communications in the same system – even with mass data from smart meters.
