Embedding climate and resource protection in the company: KISTERS in the TrafoAgent pilot project

4 March 2025

Every company can make an effective contribution to climate neutrality and resource conservation – regardless of its size. However, if there is a lack of financial and human resources, as is often the case in small and medium-sized companies in particular, the challenges are especially great.

A colorful illustrated poster featuring cartoon sketches of three people at the top, with words like Nachhaltigkeit, Soziales Engagement, and Energie Management in German, among others. Various symbols and text highlight themes of sustainability. This is why the TrafoAgent project is developing a comprehensive concept for the establishment and qualification of so-called transformation agents in companies.

The task of transformation agents is to initiate the transformation towards climate-neutral and resource-conserving production and working methods and to implement effective measures. They are intended to anchor and stabilise the topic of climate-neutral business in companies and at the same time act as contact points and initiators.

The project is funded by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the EU and we are delighted that KISTERS was one of a few pilot companies selected by the Wuppertal Institute for the project.

Our colleagues Dr Juliane Ruhland, Dr Peter Silberg and Lars Schiemann are now trained transformation agents from the very beginning. They have received further training in the areas of sustainability management and reporting, GHG accounting and resource management.

What happens next?

At the end of the project, in-depth workshops are planned on the topics that were particularly important to the participants, such as CO2 indicators, their categorisation in the corporate context and the strategic implementation of the carbon footprint.

This means that KISTERS is well equipped for the upcoming sustainability reporting and the firm integration of sustainability issues into current and future business operations.
